The Scope of Work
For the CRD Wastewater Treatment Project, we constructed the 3,100-metre Clover Forcemain to transport wastewater from Clover Point to McLoughlin Point. The project’s location in Beacon Hill Park during the busy summer season increased the complexity of the project.
Our priorities included traffic management, safety, environmental oversight, and clear communication with stakeholders, including businesses, event planners, and First Nations monitors.
Discovering an unmapped archaeological site, we worked to comply with permits, and we resolved a pipe supply issue by storing materials at Timberlands, ensuring schedule stability. With three crews, we completed the project ahead of schedule.
The Results
- Managed and coordinated multiple crews along with numerous subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, archeologists, and environmental monitors.
- Disposed of 25,000 tonnes of contaminated soil.
- Utilized an innovative inditch method of fusing, eliminating the need for electrofusion couplings and providing schedule flexibility.
- Safety blasted 4,000 m3 trenches within city streets.
- Completed the construction of 3,000 lm of cycle path; a new seawall featuring a new wall, plaza, and stainless-steel railing; curbs and sidewalks; road reconstruction and paving; and landscape restoration.
- Successfully managed traffic within the City of Victoria and effectively communicated with adjacent businesses, residents, and various stakeholders.
