Work along Hammond Bay Road, close to the Pacific Biological Station, consists of approximately 210m of road widening, which includes relocating utility lines to facilitate excavation of the existing slope and installation of a TECCO slope stabilization system. This system is a mitigation system consisting of high-tensile steel wire mesh which is used in combination with soil nails to stabilize steep slopes. This work also includes construction of a cast in place retaining wall, improvements to storm infrastructure, sidewalks and street lighting installation.
