The Ladysmith Spirit Square is a public gathering place located in the Town of Ladysmith. After many years of planning and collaboration between the Town and the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association, the Senior Centre and the Boys and Girls Club and with funding from local, provincial and federal programs, Windley Contracting was chosen to complete the project to renovate the site and its existing building and to construct a new building.
As the project began, Community Services Minister Ida Chong announced:
The Ladysmith Spirit Square will pay tribute to this community’s history and create an accessible, inclusive place for festivals, events and celebrations for current and future generations to enjoy.
At the project’s completion and during the recent Grand Opening celebration of the Square, Ladysmith’s Mayor Hutchins said: This community gathering place will enhance our citizens’ sense of place and pride in our community, and be a welcome ?and welcoming ?feature of our town, providing much-needed programs and services as well as a public space for all citizens to enjoy.
